The old market town of Dalkeith is situated in Midlothian to the south of Edinburgh. The town is made up of a number of different areas, namely Dalkeith Town, Woodburn, Eskbank and Newbattle. There is an extensive network of local people with a thriving community spirit.
Prior to the COVID-19 outbreak, the One Dalkeith Development Trust were in the final stages of publishing a 5 year business plan, working with a Placeity collaborator.
This was for Dalkeith businesses to consider becoming a democratically elected Business Improvement District(BID) and become an official part of the Scotland’s Towns Partnership network. This is currently on hold until the pandemic has been defeated.
The Placeity powered website – Dalkeith.org.uk – is operated and managed by the team at One Dalkeith, who instigated the development of a localised version of the Scotland Loves Local campaign.
The project has been funded through a successful application to The Towns and Business Improvement Districts (BIDs) Resilience and Recovery Fund, along with other towns in Midlothian.
